Pen name: NV Torres. I'm a Puerto Rican poet and artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I've been writing poetry since the age of eleven. In June of 2007, I accomplished one of my dreams by successfully publishing my first collection of poetry entitled, I Know All The Right Things To Say. The collection consists of poems about Love, Life, Justice, Growing pains and Discovery. My second collection of poetry, Northside Cries & Lullabies, was released this Spring of 2010. NC&L is a more grown up NV. It's basically a collection of poetry and prose that explore my condition of becoming a woman, growing as an artist, all while living and observing the hardships of my home, my only beloved, North Philadelphia (aka Northside).
Currently, I'm trying to explore and experiment with other creative avenues, such as photography, drawing, fashion, and painting. I admit, while I love writing, my artsy days back then feel like a fading memory today. I miss it. Therefore, the purpose of this blog is to, in a way, hold myself accountable for my creative explorations. I want this space to serve as a journal about my creative diet, with the occasional randomness here and there (sorry in advance). I want to make sure I am not only receiving from this wonderful universe, but that I am also giving it something back in return. Stay tuned!
